Reece Cochrane and Adam Rosbottom scored their first goals of the season, but it was not enough as the Bison lost to the visiting Leeds Knights.

Basingstoke Bison 3-5 Leeds Knights

Bison took the lead after just 74 seconds, as Mac Howlett’s shot went through the legs of Sam Gospel and man of the match Sota Isogai backhanded it into the net.

Leeds grew into the contest and the Herd’s Ethan James made a number of good saves, before man of the match Kieran Brown equalised.

In the second period Leeds took the lead from Sam Dunn.

Matt Bissonnette was hooked and awarded a penalty shot but Ethan James saved.

The Knights increased their lead to 4-1 from Brown and former Bison Zach Sullivan.

The Bison reduced the advantage to two, as Reece Cochrane fired in a blue line rocket, which was his first goal of the season.

The home side were first to strike in the final period after Adam Rosbottom netted a rebound for his first ever Bison goal from AJ Macaulay’s blue line shot.

The Herd went searching for an equaliser, but Leeds made sure of the 5-3 victory thanks to Cullen McLean.

Telford Tigers 6-2 Basingstoke Bison

For the first three quarters of the first period it was very much end to end stuff with some sharp saves from Ethan James.

The Tigers then took the lead with a goal from Ronny Paragallo at 13.14 and still led 1-0 at the first buzzer.

In the second period Telford extended their lead from Callum Field before the Bison put a good amount of pressure on the Telford net. Sota Isogai hit the post and seconds later Harry Ferguson made it 3-0.

Disaster struck on the Bison’s only powerplay of the weekend, as Max Dukovac scored shorthanded and that was followed by a goal from Rhodes-Mitchell-King to make it 5-0 at the second break.

The final period proved to be the best 20 minutes of play for the Bison.

Mac Howlett was first to score as he netted a rebound from a Reece Cochrane blue line shot.

Scott McKenzie then netted a sixth for the Tigers.

The Herd’s Charles Farmer then wrapped up the match scoring with 50 seconds left, as he slotted the puck through the legs of Brad Day.

The Bison’s next game is an away trip to the Bristol Pitbulls on Friday, which starts at 7.30pm.

Then on Saturday evening they are on home ice against the Swindon Wildcats, which has a 6.30pm face off.
