Basingstoke Bison Sign Stuart Mogg for 2026/27 Season
Basingstoke Bison are delighted to announce that defender Stuart Mogg has re-signed with the club ahead of the upcoming 2026/27 campaign.
The 31-year-old Basingstoke-born blue liner is a familiar and much-loved face at the Barn, and his return will come as welcome news to Bison fans as the roster begins to take shape for next season.
Mogg enjoyed a solid 2025/26 campaign, appearing in 54 games in the Planet Ice NIHL National Division, registering 1 goal and 12 assists for 13 points, while also contributing across the National Cup and pre-season competitions. His game has never been defined purely by points; however, it is his physicality, willingness to put his body on the line, and quiet but powerful leadership that make him such a valued member of the locker room.
A product of the Basingstoke junior system, Mogg's connection with the club runs deep. His career has taken him across the British game from stints with Slough Jets in the EPIHL to time with the Berkshire Bees, but it is at the Bison where he has always felt at home. Now in his second year back with the club, he has helped lay the foundations as hockey has returned to Basingstoke, and his experience and professionalism continue to prove invaluable both on and off the ice.
Head Coach Jeff Flanagan was clear about the role Mogg plays in the team's identity:
"Moggy is a solid defenseman who gives everything for the Bison each game that he plays. His willingness to block shots and his defensive play will continue to be a key piece to the puzzle as the roster begins to take shape."
A leader by example, Mogg brings positivity and drive to the group that extends well beyond his numbers. He sets the standard in how he approaches the game professionally in everything he does, and is a genuine force for good in the locker room.
Mogg himself was equally enthusiastic about the news:
"I'm very excited to be back for next season. This year has definitely been one of adversity and growth for the team, and through it all, you, the fans, have been right there behind us. It's been an honour to be part of history in having hockey back in Basingstoke, and it's time now to keep building and to bring that Silverware back home.”
Stuart Mogg; Basingstoke born, Bison through and through. Welcome back, Moggy.
