The Basingstoke Bison wrapped up their pre-season campaign with an impressive double over the Bristol Pitbulls last weekend.

The Herd followed up their 4-2 success on Saturday night with a 5-3 victory on the following evening.

In the first game of the weekend, the Bison took the lead at 13:44 as Zak Shankar fired home from Stuart Mogg and Zack Milton on the powerplay.

The Herd extended their advantage just past the half way point of the match, as man of the match Mogg netted assisted by Brendan Sellan and Shankar.

In the 34th minute, the Bison made it 3-0 as Sellan found the net as he finished off a move which saw Marcus Bradley and Adam Erskine pick up their first points of the season.

Bristol hauled themselves back into the game at 38:37 from man of the match Max Wigfield.

Milton restored the three goal margin with six minutes to play, before Jake Bricknell completed the 4-2 scoreline scoring 19 seconds later.

On Sunday night, the Bison led 1-0 at the first break thanks to a goal from man of the match Luke Spadafora, as Adam’s Erskine and Harding picked up the helpers.

Just 53 seconds into the second session the Herd doubled their lead as Will Stead netted from Shankar and Mogg on the powerplay.

Bristol then turned the game on its head as they scored three times in just under four minutes from Bricknell, John Dunbar and man of the match Jacob Bryceland to make it 3-2 at 25:16.

However, the Bison hit back as a great breakaway strike from Sellan made sure the teams went in level at the second break.

At this point Will Bray took over from Max Wright in the Bison goal and produced a final period shut-out.

At the other end of the rink, Captain George Norcliffe opened his account for the season as the Herd went ahead again.

It was then left to Spadafora with a powerplay strike assisted by Sellan and Tom Relf at 51:41 to make sure of the victory.

After an excellent pre-season of three wins out four, next up for the Bison is the start of their league campaign away at Telford on Sunday September 28.
